Study confirms high doses of vitamin D have no effect on COVID-19

Results from a clinical trial in Brazil have joined others in demonstrating that high doses of vitamin D do not have any affect on patients hospitalized with severe COVID-19. A study of 240 participants from June to August 2020 randomized patients to receive standard of care plus a high dose of vitamin D, or standard of care plus placebo. The group receiving the vitamin D did not see any reduction in length of hospitalization, or in ICU admissions or intubations compared to the group receiving placebo.
