Second UK trial to study gout drug colchicine as COVID-19 treatment

A trial in the United Kingdom is looking at whether or not colchicine, an inexpensive drug used to treat gout, can be effective at treating early stage COVID-19 patients at home. The government-backed PRINCIPLE trial recently expanded eligibility for the colchicine arm of the trial to include people aged under 50 years.
