Moderna needs more kids for COVID vaccine trials

Moderna has indicated that its COVID-19 vaccine may not be approved for use in youth in the immediate future, with a timeline perhaps as far out as 2022. Trials are currently underway for people aged 12-17, with some challenges being faced in enrolling enough participants. The company also hopes to conduct trials for children under 11 although lower doses will need to be used in that group. that group. The vaccine is currently approved for people 18 years of age and older. The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is approved for use in 16- and 17-year-olds as well as adults.
