Health Canada is in the final phase of reviewing AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine candidate, a process that began in October 2020. Some complications that have arisen in the course of the review include the design of the clinical trials and questions around the vaccine’s efficacy against local variants of the disease and use in people over the age of 65.
