A phase 1 clinical trial of an Edmonton-based company’s COVID-19 vaccine candidate began at Halifax’s Canadian Centre for Vaccinology on Thursday, April 15^th with the first doses administered to participants. Up to 73 people in total will receive Entos Pharmaceutical’s DNA-based vaccine, broken in age groups of 18-55 and 65-84. Researchers hope to have preliminary safety data in two months, and are optimistic that the vaccine can be given as a single dose.
