  • What the heck is a Formulary anyway?

A formulary is a list of drugs that your employer pays for on your drug plan.

Reformulary is a new kind of formulary that has been designed by a group of physician and pharmacist experts who know all about drugs and the medical conditions that they treat.

Drugs listed in the Reformulary were chosen based on a thorough review of the evidence (clinical and cost evidence). These drugs are some of the best at treating medical conditions.

    Covered vs Uncovered
  • What’s a Co-Pay?

Co-pay is an insurance term. It is the amount of money you pay out-of-pocket for health care services covered under your health plan, such as prescription drugs. Usually, your co-pay is a percentage of the cost of your prescription — and your employer pays the rest.

Finding your Co-Pay on your Receipt

    What’s Your co-pay?

Check out your prescription receipt. Do you see the ”C“? This is the Drug Ingredient Cost. This equals the price charged by the drug manufacturer (MLP) plus your pharmacy’s mark-up. Your co-pay is a percentage of the cost of the prescription.

  • About Sustainability

    Sky Rocketing Costs

Drug costs in Canada are going up for a lot of reasons:

    • Baby boomers (and there’s a lot of them!) are getting older — as we get older, we have health
issues and need to take more drugs.
    • Some of the newer drugs are very expensive.
    • We’re able to treat many more medical
      conditions than ever before.

Who’s paying for the increase in drug costs? Your employer is. And you are too. It might mean you’re paying more for your benefits, or you’re getting less coverage for other things you care about (like massages, physiotherapy, glasses, among others).
